What day is Great America open?
We are excited to announce California’s Great America’s Opening Day – May 22 – and we look forward to welcoming you back to a fun and safe environment. We continue to monitor state guidelines and work with industry and government officials to ensure our reopening plan meets all required health and safety regulations.
Is Great America open all year round?
The park is not open year round (it closes for part of the winter) but check for special events and festivals scattered through the calendar, such as spring’s Easter Egg-stravaganza, the Red, White, & Brews food festival over July 4th, and Winterfest during the holiday season.
Is Six Flags Great America open in winter?
It will be closed. October 30th is the last day of the season. Think tundra. In January we may very well have weeks-long stretches when the temperature never rises above freezing, day OR night.

Is Fast Lane worth it Great America?
Fast lane pass is worth the $! Overall, the park is pretty dated (I haven’t been in the water park- think it is newer), but still fun. We only go a couple times a year and have one child so for us the fast lane is great (she is 10). Went on opening day, rode everything more than once, and Gold Rush more than 5 times.
Can I bring a backpack to Great America?
California’s Great America is committed to providing a safe environment for all of our guests and associates. All guests arriving at the park are electronically scanned with a handheld “wand” and/or metal detector. Guests are also asked to open any backpacks, purses or waist packs for a brief examination.

Guests wearing character themed outfits may not sign autographs for other guests or represent themselves as a park associate. Costumes that conceal identity are prohibited. Rides and attractions may also have additional restrictions on dress attire.

*Please note, Halloween Haunt is not recommended for children under 13 and guests will not be permitted into the park if they are wearing Halloween make-up or costumes.
