You have to assume that: we live in a pretty bad economic context, especially if you’re a young person . We have worse jobs than those our parents had, with worse economic conditions and worse prospects of being able to progress.

The generation of “titulitis”

Of course, if there is one phenomenon that bothers us as a young generation it is the paradox of academic titles . We had been told when we were children that if we studied a lot, our efforts would be rewarded a few years later, in the form of good jobs that would make us a person and that would allow us to live, at least, with the same comforts as our parents: a nice house, money to go on trips and discover other cultures, entertainment

But it was a lie .

However, in our eagerness to build a better future, we have wanted to follow the established rules and have been slaves to ‘titulitis’. Titulitis, which is this imperative need to have all kinds of diplomas to prove our wisdom and academic success . But, as we could see later, collecting degrees was no guarantee of finding a job.

Economic conditions and wages

How much do young people charge these days? In Spain, apart from the fact that youth unemployment is around 50% (yes, it is said soon), the “lucky ones” who manage to find a job are not in a much better situation. Most of them receive salaries within the range of the SMI (655 euros per month) and the 1,000 euros. Wages that, in any case, allow for a rather reduced standard of living, with the minimum comforts.

Disgusting jobs… but paid for at the price of gold

Have you ever dreamed of receiving a salary of 3,000, 4,000 or 5,000 euros a month? Maybe so, but you are surely realistic and it doesn’t even cross your mind that you can find a job like this , at least in the short term. When you think of jobs where these amounts are paid, you may think of executives, company directors, etc. But there are also “other style” jobs that pay very well. Of course, they may not be as appealing.

What are these jobs that can put us out of our misery? Believe me, there are jobs that pay very well, although everything has its friendly side and its less friendly side : they are usually jobs that nobody wants to do, because of their harshness, or because of some circumstance that makes them… unappealing.

Unpleasant jobs with good salaries

In this article we will review a total of 10 jobs that are very well paid… because they are the least suggestive .

1. Chicken sexer

A classic among the slightly… weird jobs. Knowing how to guess (because it’s really complicated) the sex of the chickens is a very unremarkable job, but it pays very well: up to about 5,000 euros per month . But it is not so easy, since it requires more than three years of training to be able to discriminate between male and female chickens quickly and accurately enough. Spending the day looking at chicken butts doesn’t sound too stimulating, but maybe the paycheck will compensate. It’s up to you.

2. Embalmer of corpses

If the chicken sexer job seemed a little strange to you, you’d better not read this one. Corpse embalmers can earn more than 3,000 euros per month by performing chemical treatments to “fit” people who have already died. The high salary is not so much due to the fact of being in contact with dead people (although it is certainly not something that excites most people either), but rather because of the dangerousness of working with chemicals.

3. Director of a bank

Yes, a magnificent salary. But you’re going to be pointed out on the street and you’re going to be ultimately responsible for everything that happens in your entity, of course the bad stuff too. Does that make up for a salary of 15,000 euros a month (or much more)? Then you can start studying economics. If your father was already a bank manager, it’s easier for you.

4. Tuxedo collector

Fractional collectors chase debtors and defaulters down the street . The positive side: they charge good amounts, usually on a commission basis of what they manage to collect. The bad: if you come across a slightly aggressive debtor, you can get very badly hurt.

5. Hot-dog vendor

In big cities like London, New York or Chicago, employees of large companies have little time to eat. Moreover, the restaurants in downtown in these cities are usually very expensive. Solution? Eating at a fast food stop. Street vendors can earn between 35,000 and 75,000 euros per year . As much as some people may find this job a bit “shabby”, it is a good business.

6. Funeral Services Manager

More dead. The funeral services are in charge of helping with the farewell moments of a recently deceased person, transporting the coffin and organizing the event. But yes, they earn quite a lot of money: more than 60,000 euros a year .

7. Golf ball rescuer

Does this job exist? Yes it does . As you probably know, golf courses have small lakes and ponds into which, inevitably, many balls fall every day that went off target. And of course, someone will have to dive in to “rescue” the hundreds of balls that accumulate. A certain Jim Reid found a reef in this need, collecting with his company more than 100,000 balls a day in different golf courses.

8. Model of a body part

It’s not particularly hard or unpleasant work, but… would you feel good about a bunch of photographers taking pictures and praising your feet, or any other part of your body? Maybe you’d feel like an object, right? It’s like recognizing that you have a face too ugly to be a model, but as for your feet… they’re magnificent! A little discouraging. But if you manage to belong to a good agency, you can earn a lot of money .

9. Cruise ship entertainer

Do you have a clown’s soul? This could be your chance. Cruise ship entertainers spend the day encouraging the cotarro, proposing games and playful activities. For retirees, of course. This includes playing bingo, ballroom dancing, slightly old-fashioned monologues… But if you like the idea, you should know that they can charge more than 3,000 euros a month . Not bad.

10. Notary

For some, it’s the perfect job: you put a little signature on a document and you get a good pasture . It is true, but what is not usually known is that notaries have had to study a lot, a lot, to get there. Although the salary pays, only a few chosen ones with a lot of willpower can aspire to cast those “golden signatures”.
