Causes of Waking Up Tired in the Morning

But what are the causes of getting out of bed tired? In the following lines we explain it to you.

1. Insomnia

2. Other sleep disorders

Sleep is necessary to live. But some people suffer from different types of sleep disorders, which prevent them from carrying out the restorative process that the body needs to enjoy good well-being. Sleep apnoea is one of the most frequent pathologies, in which the patient suffers a pause in breathing during sleep. In addition to this sleep pathology there are others that also affect how the person wakes up in the morning.

3. Night Anxiety

One of the phenomena associated with insomnia that some people may experience is nocturnal anxiety . Night anxiety is that unpleasant feeling in which the mind does not switch off and makes the person enter into a vicious circle in which he or she wants to fall asleep but negative thoughts appear again and again in the mind. The body needs to sleep, but the mind cannot relax. Our mind tends to ruminate naturally, and if we try to fall asleep and think about it, we will only make the situation worse. If we want to sleep to reverse this situation, it is always better to use techniques such as 4-7-8, which is part of the breathing practice of Yoga (Pranayama), and was popularized by Dr. Andrew Weil.

4. Poor sleep hygiene

Sleep hygiene has to do with those habits and practices we do at bedtime that positively affect how we sleep . For example, if we watch television at night or have an uncomfortable cushion, the chances of interrupting our restful sleep are high. Other practices that positively influence how we sleep are: physical exercise, a healthy diet, avoiding stimulants, not abusing the diet, going to bed and getting up at the same time, among others.

5. Alcohol consumption

Alcohol is one of the most consumed drugs, and it is usually associated with leisure time . However, it has a sedative effect that helps to fall asleep, but after a while it interrupts it and therefore causes people to sleep badly. As a result, they wake up worse in the morning. Researchers in an Australian study showed that alcoholic beverages, if consumed frequently, cause increased brain activity at night, making it difficult to sleep.

6. Drug consumption

But alcohol is not the only substance that makes people wake up tired . Some drugs, for example, those that aim to help people sleep, cause side effects such as bottling, especially those that are part of the H1 family of antihistamines. This causes people to wake up tired and sleepy despite a good night’s sleep.

7. Depression
